Cyclists beware - North East Rd Walkerville

There is a large pothole in front of A Class Jewellers, it's been there a while but now seems to be getting bigger. One to be aware of especially with the volume of traffic in the mornings.

Have just now reported to Transport's Road Hazards via email at DPTI.EnquiriesAdministrator@sa.gov.au

Walkerville, Walkerville, North East Road. Cycling hazard of pothole. Class 'A' Manufacturing Jewellers, 40 North East Road. A pothole. Thanks Heather. As someone who rides near there most days, I cross at Galway, I wonder why cyclists take on that part of NE Rd? Why not turn down Burlington or even earlier after Ascot and get on to Walkerville Tce then the river or just back out near Melbourne St?

Generally ride before 7am before the traffic gets too hairy, anytime after 7 it's linear park. Haven't done Walkerville Tce in a while as it was awful during the pipeline upgrade. Got caught on a wet day, looked like I'd done the Paris -Rubaix

Walkerville Tce is pretty much fixed now, still a bit dirty.

i quite often take on that section of north east road. If you're comfortable taking the lane it's not too bad. That being said if the traffic is banked up a bit, then i'm also happy enough to zip down one of the side streets to get onto walkerville tce :)

Thanks for the positive feedback. Am now finding that less AC members criticise my advocating for safer cycling conditions.

Will add that if an urgent hazard (includes broken glass), phone Transport on 1800 018 313 (24-hr).
Local councils are responsible for residential streets. Gets more complicated when cover-lids, RRPMs, rubbish, a tonne of building materials stored in bicycle lane, so feel free to contact me first with questions.

Yes, for perhaps a year, cannot recall exactly when the posted criticisms stopped. Some AC members would discretely thank me by private AC email or in person, rather than publicly on AC.
