Permalink Reply by Frank (GW) on June 9, 2012 at 19:19 Oh man....so sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. That road is on a GW route...has shaken me up reading about this.
When we find out more GW could dedicate a memorial ride to the spot where it happened!
Permalink Reply by Patrick O'Kane on June 9, 2012 at 20:13 Might want to check with his family first.
Of course!
Permalink Reply by Richard on June 9, 2012 at 21:52 The thing that annoyed me about the television report on channel 7 was the line: the cyclist collided with a truck. FFS, that makes it sound as though the cyclist ran into the side of the truck or something, like it was the cyclist's fault. Surely it's the the truck that hit the cyclist, regardless of who was at fault.
In anycase, dem roads is dangerous places. Take care lads and lasses.
And in this case, condolences to the family of the poor soul who lost his life today.

Too right mate! Especially with a truck which can suck cyclists towards it as it goes by!
Permalink Reply by Mike Andy on June 10, 2012 at 15:25 I've seen many incidents where a truck in an 80+ zone has driver past a parked car with the door ajar and the force of the air from the truck has literally ripped the door open so hard that it damages the car.
It certainly makes me question my sanity re riding down Port Road to get to the norther expressway cycle path.
