A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital after a car knocked him from his bike at Unley this afternoon.

The cyclist, aged in his fifties, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital shortly after 3.30pm, with severe head and chest injuries.

The incident happened on Unley Rd and police have advised motorists to expect delays in the area as they investigate the cause of the crash.

They should not allow parking on Unley Road.

I agree Mark. There are certain roads where cars should NOT be allowed to park, Unley is a prime example, as is henley beach rd (where I live and won't ride on) goodwood & I know you guys know the rest. So you have to walk a few more meters, big friggin deal, get over it & park down a side street.
My best wishes to the cyclist who was the victim of a stupid act.

There are many examples in Adelaide where the bicycle lanes are located within opening door range of parked vehicles. This encourages cyclists to ride in hazardous spots or, be forced by overtaking vehicles into the hazardous bicycle lanes.

Hmm "he rode into an open car door". Why do am I suspicious that it makes it sound like it was the cyclist's fault. A bit like the sketch where the policeman claimed the protester viciously hit him in the fist with his jaw.
