I stopped today at the bus shelter at the top of Greenhill Road and Mount Lofty Summit Road and was shocked at the disgusting amount of gel and energy bar wrappers jammed into the seat and shed. Surely it is not that much of an inconvenience to dispose of rubbish correctly. If I had to use that bus shelter and sit in that filth it would be easy to label all cyclists in a negative way.

Good on ya Craig.

Craig, do you think it would be practical to install here a rubbish bin, which would then need regular emptying? If so, I am prepared to contact an authority.

I personally thinks it's a matter of being lazy and irresponsible, if a gel/energy bar fits into your jersey pocket then there is enough room for the empty packaging until you can dispose of it properly. Heather if you want to contact an authority feel free to do so, we are in the Adelaide Hills council.

What is the exact location and bus stop number?

Intersection of Grennhill Road and Mount Lofty Summit Road at bus stop 19.

I went pass the bus stop the other day and the council has placed a rubbish bin next to it. Great work!!

Craig, thanks for letting me know. Have added to BUG reports that a rubbish bin installed by 12-Oct-2012.

Yeah, I saw a cyclist on the NEXY this afternoon throw an empty packet against the fence, some people just don't care about being disgusting.

Yeah but there are a lot of people out their living the dream (playing pro cyclist) and that is what the pros do.

+1 that's funny.

But a wrapper may weigh a gram or two that may be a second or so on strava :-)

If you don't want people to think you are a dirty pig don't act like a dirty pig.

I reckon a lot of people stop there to catch their breath (and apparently refuel) before the Strava assault on the summit.

Leaking gels arent much fun in a jersey pocket, not hard to take a small plastic bag with you to hold the rubbish. As mentioned, if you can take a full one with you, can certainly take an empty one home again.
