There's a new small espresso bar in Glenside that's just opened called Red Berry Espresso
The Owner (Walter) is a keen cyclist and is opening at 7am to give early morning riders an option for their post-ride, pre-work coffee fix.
The shop is located on Cnr Greenhill Rd & L'Estrange St, Glenside - between Portrush Rd & Fullarton Road as you travel down Greenhill Rd.
I've been having my 7am fix for the past week & was told today that all types of coffee will be $3 to cyclists this Saturday 7-12.
I believe the owner will be targeting cyclists with deals, etc in the weeks/months to come, as well as adding some cycling memorabilia too, but until then, its a neat little option after the early morning Mt Lofty ride if anyone's in the area and interested.
Merry Christmas.

(anyone else want a sticker pack? Lemme know)
I think a good way for any business to attract custom from cyclists would be to have an A Frame near the road
"Cyclists Welcome, have a great coffee and fill your bidons with chilled water for free"
Chilled Spring water also available @50c per bidon
Yep! He does have the A frame on Greenhill Rd. He apparently made up a poster last Saturday which he stuck to it that called all cyclists, but no reaction. He said it looked like most cyclists were flying down Greenhill too fast to read it + there's a lot to look out for in that stretch with traffic & parked cars in bike lanes. He does the free bidon fillers but not sure if its chilled. We'll have to see what he comes up with, but I think he's trying to settle for now. He says he's waiting on a roasting machine which will be in store to roast the beans in Jan/Feb - can't wait for the smell as I pass by on my early morning rides!
Cyclists seem a bit sheepish, wont stop at a cafe unless they see bikes parked outside and Grimaldi's and The Place Next Door have been favourites for a while. Maybe you should create an event or two with the finish being at Red Berry

Permalink Reply by MarkK on April 16, 2012 at 15:44 theres a shop on Pirie st that roasts its own beans, the outside smells but the coffee is excellent so Im sure it will attract more buyers.
as for the A frame maybe he should make one of those signs that fit in a bike frame (similar to that local councillor) and park the bike 400m up from the shop, that way the bike catches the eyes of cyclists and they have time to brake and stop there. ( and i think he can lock it anywhere WITHOUT council approval)
I find im always watching for car doors opening at that section of road so i miss the shop everytime.
Yeh that is a car dooring death-trap infront of those shops for sure.
