Permalink Reply by Doddsy on August 15, 2011 at 19:45 In the middle of summer when i feel empty of an evening I occasionally have vegimite soup or just lots of salt.
But i don't tend to get cramps while riding.
I get them in my sleep.

Riding and it is my quads, hammies and calves. I cramped so badly on Sunday my legs locked straight about 4 times. Even when they did not lock straight I could not relieve them as I was cramping in all muscle groups between my knee and hip. stretch the hammies and the quads would cramp, stretch the quads and the hammies would cramp. At least the calves held up. I too have tried all of the previously mentioned remedies to no avail. I learnt also, through a completely unrelated issue, that Vitamin D is required for your body to absorb both calcium and magnesium. This will definately effect cramping but it is mostly going to effect night time cramps, not so much excesive excercise cramp. As a side note, how many bidons did people tend to go through on Amy's. Maybe I am not keeping the fluid up enough.
