I've been looking at getting a contour roam helmet cam. Just wondering if anyone has one. Easy to use? Pros and cons? Do I need to buy the bike kit to mount it on my helmet?

AC discussion of Cameras are cyclists' 'black boxes' in accidents at http://www.adelaidecyclists.com/forum/topics/cameras-are-cyclists-b... refers to media story that states: “GoPro and Contour make popular models; GoPro says sales through bike retailers have nearly doubled so far this year from the same period last year.”.

Shoots stills at 11mp, 8mp of 5mp. You can set it to shoot continuously at .5, 1, 5, 10, 30 and 60 seconds. Have the camera upside down and it shoots the right way up. Has heaps of accessories. Very good and prompt online helps. Its not just good for on the bike but for sporting events. Pic attached is from the Sky City Triple Crown Race from my GoPro Hero2.
Well you gotta be happy with that photo!!

The GoPro, Contour & Drift are probably better units with more bells & whistles (for more dollars) but I might give the Muvi a go ...
Permalink Reply by Trevor Hill on July 27, 2012 at 9:53 So long as gets good reviews and suits your needs the Veho Muvi should be fine. I think the GoPro would be ideal if you are a keen amateur or want to take you video to the next level, or enjoy the creativity of video editing, mixing stills & video and time laps.
@ Roger Gurr so how much recording time to you get on the 4GB card?
Permalink Reply by Roger Gurr on July 27, 2012 at 11:19 According to the website:
"Record time: up to 3 hours continous recording" presumably with the 4GB card supplied?
I'll let you know when I get it
Thanks everyone for your replies, I've been looking on you tube and google as suggested.

The Go Pro units do have a couple of pro's you do need to consider
- unless you go for a higher Contour unit you cant see what you have recorded during the ride. This is never been a problem for me
- again unless you have a higher unit you cant swap batteries, but I have always found 8 hours to be sufficent
Against the the Go Pro
- Mounts suck. The group I was with during the TDU had 4 mounts break, two were brand new and in one case killed the camera (fell down a drain). K Edge do make a mount which I have been told is good, but never seen.
- Dead ugly and bulky. The Roam sits under my handlebars and is mistaken for a light where as the Go Pro is a lump and yet to see it sit nicely on bars.
Thanks James, That's why I like the Contour roam - slim line, doesn't stand out like the go pro. Which model do you have? I see there is one with a built in GPS. My daughter is going overseas next week and I am hoping she may be able to buy me one for a better price than I could get here.
Permalink Reply by James Jordan on July 28, 2012 at 17:28 I have the Roam basic version without the bluetooth and GPS. I could not really see the point in those features as I have a Garmin to do the GPS and can see myself viewing recorded vision while out for a ride.
Check on Wiggle at the moment as they have the units and mounts going at decent prices.
