Hi all.
I'm a bit puzzled about which shimano road chain is the best for me. I have a carbon DBR road bike with Ultegra 9 speed running gear. I'm 188cm and 97kg.
I was eyeing off a SHIMANO XTR/Dura-Ace Chain 9 Speed - CN-7701, but are these high end chains strong enough for someone of my stature?
Thanks.

The big advantage for the Connex chains is that they have a joining link that can be separated without a chain breaker, makes it very easy for removal and cleaning.

The only thing that will kill a chain quicker is overloading it in lube and then letting everything stick to it. You have no idea how many times I see this in the shop.
Chains should at most be wiped down with a little degreaser on a rag, lightly re-lubed on the pins only, let to sit for about 10 minutes and then wiped down.
I normally 8-9000 km from a Dura Ace chain before it hits the 0.75 wear and that’s riding in all weather.

Permalink Reply by James Jordan on April 13, 2012 at 17:50 +1 I have tried both Ultegra and 105 chains and there is a big difference in life span.
Dura Ace easly give more than double before they need replacing.

Permalink Reply by James Jordan on April 13, 2012 at 18:14 SRAM did seem to have a problem with their chains early on, even a couple of the really strong A graders in the ACT managed to snap some.
They seem to overcome this, but alot of the PRO teams dont seem to trust the chains. Based on the TDU bikes for the last couple of years nearly all the teams with SRAM were not running one of their chains. Those that were did have the power link on though.
Shimano when they first released 7900 with the quick link, but nothing since.
