Hi all,
Please note that as of the end of January, the Coast to Vines Rail Trail will be detoured to ensure cyclists and pedestrians have a safe passage past the construction works associated with the Seaford Rail Extension.
The attached flyer shows the exact route the detour will take along Railway Road, McMillan Road, Seaford Road and Grand Boulevard. It will then connect to Griffiths Drive.
Please circulate this information amongst your relevant cycling groups.
Please contact the project enquiry line if you have any further queries 1800 791 883.

Permalink Reply by Adam Williss on January 16, 2012 at 15:07 So where it says the "detoured section of the path will be off-road" that doesn't mean dirt/gravel? My initial reaction was that it would be gravelly stuff....
Er....clarification???
The initial Seaford Rd section has a "bike path" just off to the southern side of the road. From memory I think it is gravel, or at least it looks to be mostly covered in gravel, debris and parked cars! Couldn't blame the last car I saw parked slap bang over it because frankly it was difficult to recognise that piece of land as a cycle track.
I suggest you just stick to the road on Seaford Rd & Grand Boulevard. If you are so inclined, take a pen and paper to get the regos of the trucks that honk you and try to run you off Seaford Road. They generally appear to be the ones involved in the rail works.
