Ok, so I do a lot of hills riding... ride to work into the city then back to home to the hills etc.

A few months ago instead of riding up Norton Summit Rd home I thought I'd give Coachhouse Dr/Woodland Way a crack for the first time.

OMG... it is a total sufferfest! I've never felt so tortured in my life! Absolutely shattered by the end.

So I was pretty hesitatent to give Corkscrew Rd a crack after 80kms on the Ride for Pain this weekend because I'd built it up to be like Coachhouse Dr/Woodland Way in my mind. Once I'd done it, honestly I didn't think it was too bad at all!

So I'd like to know what you'd rate as the 3 hardest climbs you done around Adelaide!

Is Coachhouse Dr/Woodland Way THAT bad lol?!

Try going straight ahead at that first hairpin on the Norton Summit climb, Valley Rd, and connect up to Woodland Way which is the top of Coachhouse Rd. I think that might be on-par or steeper.

For shorter steep climbs Stentiford Rd, Forest Range gets my vote.

Well done on the Corkscrew. How was the Ride for Pain, I've not seen any reports?

Yep - Coachhouse Dve / Woodland Way gets my vote for the biggest sufferfest in Adelaide.

Second - from Caroline Path (Lynton) then up Sheoak Rd to the top of Lofty.  15km or so of rolling hillclimbing with several pinches of 20%+ gradient.

Third - line ball between Bangor Hill at Willunga and the Corkscrew.

Probably Checkers next...

On the MtBike the continuation of Coach Rd, Skye up to Ashton - being dirt standing up isn't an option - ouch!

On the Roadie, Windebanks Rd, Aberfoyle Pk is quite a shocker.

And yeah, Coachhouse/Woodland is a real suffer fest.

Belair Road then Sheoak Road to Lofty

and if you were a Belgian you might choose to turn right and go straight up  Kalyra Road to Belair from Windy Point instead of Belair road which is really not that hard.

Not tried that one yet but it's on my list.

In no particular order

Bangor

Kensington Rd

Checkers

Bangor Road - nice

1) Kensington Rd/McBeath Ave firetrack/Coach Rd combination.

2) Sheoak Rd.

3) Coachhouse/Woodlands

Lynton bikeway can't be counted, because I couldn't ride it.

McBeath Ave firetrack & Lynton bikeway aren't sealed right?

Dunno about McBeath, but Lynton bikeway is a very nice smooth new bitumen surface.  Just the 25% gradient that smashes you!!!

How many of you guys use standard cranks and 11-25 cassette ?

I'm compact with a 11-26...

I'm 53-39 on 11-26 and I cannot do Coachhouse... I just cannot tell them over. I've only really been doing hills on and off for last year and have done Corkscrew after 55km through the hills. Seems to be that 16%+ is my weakness.
