I wonder which rocket scientist thought puttig tents across the bike path at Pinky Flat today was clever. Very tempted to grab a glass of wine as I wheeled through BankSA's marquee!

Permalink Reply by Don (Who's lost?) Nairn on April 29, 2012 at 18:20 I would be surprised the Adelaide council doesn't have rules about erecting temporary structures like marquees.
I would have thought that blocking paths ect. would not allowed I suppose the rowers think they have exclusive use at times.

Permalink Reply by heather on April 29, 2012 at 19:00 It was a festival -- saw some of the preparation on Friday. Recommend that you contact ACC which is supportive of cycling, and would not like obstructions across the shared path of the River Torrens Linear Park. Let me know how your complaint goes.
Permalink Reply by rossmg on April 29, 2012 at 19:40 Yeah, that's nonsense. Quit a bit of traffic on that path, must have inconvenienced many.
It was set up for the end of the Greenbelt half marathon.I did not see how bad the obstruction was but i suspect that it was done ( whilst not ideal ) to maybe slow bikes down as there would have been a lot of runners on the track and signs as we as cyclist know don't always work.
Permalink Reply by Duncan Fowler on April 30, 2012 at 17:26 Yes, no one should ever obstruct cyclists' free movement on a shared path. Stopping cars for a cycling event, on the other hand, is, of course, fine.

Permalink Reply by Duncan Fowler on May 1, 2012 at 9:07 Elder Park is for everyone. Just because we have the privilege of being able to ride our bikes through there doesn't mean no one else can enjoy it - and they didn't stop us from using it, by the way. It's called sharing.
Permalink Reply by lisa degregorio on May 1, 2012 at 10:28 Sorry I disagree, They did stop us from using it as you could barely ride through and they were not sharing they were preventing us from being able to share. That's called selfish hogging. I wasn't asking for complete domination of cyclists just being able to move through easily.
