City shower options
Hey folks,
With the wind down of the bike hub on Hindmarsh Square I have a renewed need for a shower at the end of my morning commute. Can anyone provide good options/ideas? I have looked around at Gyms but am still not 100% convinced they're the best option as most certainly aren't cheap.
I'm also not prepared to stink everyone out at work :P

Post that you would like ACC to go ahead with plan to install a bike pod (with secure bike locking and showers) in the Topham Mall car park.

I think Gawler place public toilets used to have shower cubicles, maybe the new bus station has them, if all else fails ask ACC if there are any showers available to the public.

According to the ACC 2011-2013 Bicycle action plan there is/was $10,000 allocated to provide showers for cyclists at the bus station this financial year. Does anyone know the status of this?
There is also $90,000 allocated next financial year to provide secure bike parking, lockers and showers in the Light Square car park.

According to the council website, there are public showers at the bus station.

Thanks all for the responses, I'll check out the bus station later today. I began my search trying local backpackers to see if I could get a cheap/free shower. None were keen. One did mention the bus station but seemed to think that it had a cost. I'll confirm that.
Just in case someone searches in the future with a similar dilemma, before light square is done, here are the gym options that I looked at (prices at time of posting):
Jett on Currie: $23.45 a fortnight + $99 join and $29 pass - showers looked OK, reasonable looking gym. Bike lockup not possible in the gym but I believe there is something secure in Topham Mall carpark? No permanent lockers. I'm not sure about temporary.
Anytime on Morphett: $13.85 a week + $49ish join and $30 pass (from my dodgy memory) - big shower/change area and nice looking gym. Bike parking only out the front but there are security cameras. No lockers I could see. Brand new high tech gear.
City Gym: $26.95 a fortnight + joining fee which I have yet to determine. Rough looking gym but I kind of like it as they actually have classes of martial arts etc (if you're in to that sort of thing). Lockers. Parking out the front, I'm not sure about inside. Showers/gym is old.
World Gym: $26ish a week but they seemed willing to negotiate. There was a joining fee that I can't remember. Spray tan extra. You will get accosted by a consultant when you make an enquiry. It is very well setup. Showers have been transplanted from a Hilton. Temporary lockers locked with your membership RFID pass!
I'll post more as I progress. I'm kind of keen on the gym idea but I just don't think I have time (ahem, new father of a 6 month old) to use it.

So there's a free shower in the bus station which is actually quite nice. $20 deposit for a key. There's also a queue and people who think that the shower is for them exclusively. What on earth would make someone want to spend that much time in a publicly shared shower? *sigh* Gym it is by the looks.
