I had my car service on Friday.
This is about the only time I go to the city.
The mechanic needed the car for 2 hours so I went for a wander to the market.
One of the restaurants was offering "pig intestine or stomach with special soy sauce" this did make me wonder if I have had a sheltered life (or perhaps there are just hungrier people than me)
I also had a ride on a city bike from bikeSA at low speed it was a pleasant ride.
I don't think I would take one up to Norton summit
After an hour my bottom let me know ti wasn't used to this style of seat.
What are other peoples impression of city bikes?

Permalink Reply by heather on April 28, 2012 at 23:12 I have not tried a city bike. Could be handy when spending hours in town while your bike undergoes major maintenance at a CBD LBS.
Permalink Reply by Sam Young on April 28, 2012 at 23:58 I didn't make it, but a few guys from uni took some city bikes up mt lofty and back a few weeks ago. There certainly weren't any records made.
Permalink Reply by Paul Inglis on April 29, 2012 at 11:53 I also didn't make it due to having over celebrated the night before but I have heard what happened. They only made it to eagle on the hill before having a puncture and no one had a spare tube big enough. Two guys rode down the hill on the one bike though. About 180 kg going downhill at 40-50km/h with terrible brakes. I think John Springbett recorded on his garmin but hasn't uploaded the ride to Strava yet. We're planning on doing it again soon as well.

Permalink Reply by rossmg on April 29, 2012 at 4:08 Well, my mate and I took our two 7yr old boys cycling from Underdale to the beach along the Linear Park today (Saturday) and I was a little surprised to see quite a few City Bikes being ridden along. In fact I often see them being ridden around the place. Like Clive, I have never ridden one myself, nor eaten pig intestine but raw horse is pretty good ;-)
Permalink Reply by Patrick O'Kane on April 29, 2012 at 9:18 I tried the Melbourne bike share once and wasn't hugely impressed.
One afternood whilst walking the dog on the Coast 2 Vines path a City bike passed me heading towards the city, then another, then another. In total there were about eight of them all ridden by young Asians. I assume they were tourists or students who borrowed the bikes for a picnic run somewhere as they all had backpacks with them. There was a huge gap between the leader and TEC, well over five minutes, City bike cat 6 racing perhaps?
Permalink Reply by Don (Who's lost?) Nairn on April 29, 2012 at 13:45 for trundling around at about 15-20 Km/hr they seem OK
I don't think i would buy on for my regular ride.
Permalink Reply by Brian Jenkins (BJ) on April 29, 2012 at 21:47 Not ridden one either. A couple of months ago came across 4 European tourists on them around the Henley sea-front area. Rode behind them for a bit as they headed north along Seaview Rd, they stopped near the end to head for the beach. I went onto Semaphore, then to Port docks to see the tall ships that were there then. As I was leaving, the 4 pedalled by the docks - still going strong. See these bikes on the Westside path a number of times as well.
