Channel Anti-Cycling today admitted to a grave operational fault relating to television coverage of the Tour Down Under. For some unidentified reason, live pictures were actually transmitted to on-course screens and households throughout the nation today.
Management said that they are working hard to identify the cause of the problem to prevent its re-occurrence. However, they warned that they may not be able to fix the problem by tomorrow and cycling fans may be denied the opportunity not to see live coverage on Sunday.
An anonymous Channel Anti-Cycling BIG wheel & spokes person said:
"It's pretty hard to take after a great week of vexing restrictive coverage. We did some excellent last moment re-scheduling during the week to throw cycling fans off the scent. Rescheduling from 11:30pm to 10:20pm one night this week worked a treat. Those not in the know, who set their recording programs to 11:30pm, were stymied beautifully. Meanwhile those up with the rescheduling were hit with a 18 minute delay to the rescheduled start time and a shedload of advertisements."
Big Wheel dismissed the notion that TV coverage rights should be returned to traditional owners SBS. "They might have good expert presenters but really they are nothing more than a bunch of impoverished pretenders".

Permalink Reply by Kasey VP on January 21, 2012 at 19:50 I was at Willunga, and I saw on the big screen some AFL boof heads, Riewoldt (sp?) and some other idiot. what the hell were they doing on the box? The ch9 guy in the hospitality area said something about, it making good television. I thought it best not to punch him in the midst of the prawn sandwich eaters:)
I was fast-forwarding the replay when I got home from the real thing today and spotted Riewoldt (who cares about the spelling!). A true "WTF" moment. I didn't bother to rewind to hear what he had to say. Kasey you really should have punched the Ch9 guy repeatedly for all of us. We're only going to let you off once for an oversight of that magnitude ;-)
Permalink Reply by Denis Giles on January 21, 2012 at 20:22 Dean Brogan, Greater Western Sydney, AFL? Didn't he do 3 Ride to School events in the early 1990's?
Reiwoldt and Lenny Hayes from St Kilda are ambassadors for the GreenEDGE team. GreenEDGE supplied bikes and cycling advice for their rehab work and both the Saints and GreenEDGE have entered into a partnership regards training, rehab and fitness programs. Not so sure about Brogan but then he was an ex Power player so who is?.
I should have added good stuff Denis. Very Clever.
Also sorry to carry on but the link to Brogan is that he credits cycling as the reason for his longevity in playing Football.
