Non Events SA General Dogsbody and Channel 9 Wheelsucker, Hatsoff Ratseed today hit back at critics of her handling of not only the assignment of TDU television broadcast rights to Channel Crap but also the football content which appeared on the superseded Willunga Hill stage.
“What cycling fans have failed to see is the obvious connection between cycling and football” she said.
“Mike Turtle has been given all the credit for putting Eddie McGuire upfront and on stage for the TDU. I am (still the one) who deserves all the credit." she added.
"I means Eddie's won all those grand tours and European classics and then he's come home to Australia and been installed as President of the Collingwood Football Club. Cycling cretins are class-leading but surely even those dumb bunnies can see the link in the chain.”

Bit rough there Denis. The change would have been made for the benefit of cycling all over the country and that includes all cyclists. 9 has only done the tour once compared to SBS for the last decade plus. Yes some fine tuning will need to be done for next year but all will be reviewed no doubt in the coming months and all views put on the table. Lots and lots of work is done behind the scenes to make this a very successful event and only positives can come from this event. If you have a problem with nines coverage why not talk to them about it and stop having a go at the ones trying to make this event better and better every year for the benefit of all.

Permalink Reply by Denis Giles on January 23, 2012 at 14:47 Possibly so Craig. We're told the reason for the change to NINE was not for the money but for other collateral advantages. Perhaps Events SA may care to articulate what those benefits could turn out to be. I will assume that Events SA entered into agreements with NINE in good faith & with positive expectations.
The consensus view is that NINE failed to deliver a product the equal of SBS. Were there no covenants built into the agreement that would prevent NINE from such restrictive coverage? If not, why not?
NINE's efforts not only fell short, they fell short by a very long way. I agree that comments, suggestions & criticism should be directed to NINE. This cause has been taken up on a number of fronts, one of which has been highlighted in this forum.
In the meantime, I am not persuaded that Events SA has done its job properly but I am open to correction.
I have no dispute with you about the staging of the event. Absolutely superb! However, to realise its full enjoyment, a decent level of television coverage is paramount. On a positive media note, I thought ABC digital radio's coverage of the TDU was outstanding.
