Time to tell channel 9 that 11:30 is not good enough for Australia's premier cycling event.
As a fomous tennis player once said - "you can not be serious!"

Sorry ~ Friday's highlights start at 11

(Wouldnt be hard to better SBS's mangling of Aust Champs & CCentral last week)
That was a bit of a disaster wasn't it. A very poor update of the race from the start until live coverage resumed, and then when they did go live they shouuld've said straight up there are 3 groups left in the race (or more if that was the case) these are the gaps and these are the major players in each group. It seemed to take for ever to try and work out what was going on. And apart from an ok interview with Simon Gerrans cycling central was just a disaster.

Last year the group that I road with made a habit of going to the village each night to see the highlights. On the Friday they did not start the highlights at 6pm because there were to ‘bozos’ on stage (I think they were radio presenters, but they were so annoying I did not pay any attention) that was going to lead into some unknown band. Once it was found out there were no highlights everyone started to stream out and hit the social media to express their disgust.
Low and behold we all got direct replys which stated that the highlights were now on at 6:30, which goes against everything that we were told by the organisers at the village.
As I mentioned to the organisers via email that unless we find out that they will still be showing highlights at the village (at a reasonable time) we will only visit once and will not bother going to any of the food outlets. Lets face it once you have seen the demo’s what else do you need to return for?
if everyone does this, hits the social media and contacts the organisers it may not fix this year’s problems, but it will certainly make them think about what they arrange in the future.
I already hit the Channel9 facebook wall, but I think they deleted it, hmmm

Permalink Reply by Trent on January 11, 2012 at 14:22 gee i am so shocked that a commercial station has stuffed up the viewing of a sporting event!
Permalink Reply by Michael Wetherley on January 11, 2012 at 14:24 You really wondered why the paid for it in the first place. Then show it late at night when no one will watch it??????
I guess they must think it was worth it just for the last 2 stages.
They did the same with the soccer years ago, bought all the rights just so they could show the aussie games didnt show any local soccer at all.
Time to Email some people I think!!!!!

By removing the popular SBS coverage they can be sure to keep their prime time ratings and therefore not affect their sponsors bang for buck.
