CAUTION: TACKS AND NAILS ON MILITARY ROAD
Morning all,
Just to the north of Trimmer Parade on Military road, on both sides of the road, two patches of construction tacks and nails have been scattered in the bike lanes. I've swept the northern side as best I can, there is still a patch on the southern side I couldn't see, as the tacks are black. My mate and I both punctured on the southern side yesterday at different times, and I punctured going north this morning. Thanks a lot to the local guy who lent me his tube.

What is this a warfare? I guess they won and we can all give up now and start eating doritos and watching the cricket....NO WAY, I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!! All i can say is that if there is supossedly CCTV cameras pretty much everywhere ie. even on Streetlights, then why cant we find some footage of this activity, a bit suspicious to me isnt it SAPOL!! :(

Just cycle in the middle of the roadway to avoid the tacks and nails in the bike lane......

Absolutely! That's right! It is "impractical to do so" when there are hazards such as tacks and nails.
From time to time, I have found whole containers emptied into bicycle lanes. Often the empty container is ripped open and lying nearby. I don't care if it makes me late, or puts me out there in the traffic, but I get down on my hands and knees and pick up every single one as far as they are spread.
Are tradies that careless with their containers of tacks and nails, that they just let them fly off their trucks or utes into the bike lanes, or do you think it is deliberately placed? From what I have seen, I can't help thinking it is a conspiracy.

I went through there heading South about 9.45 this morning, no punctures. Lucky? Certainly didn't see anything.

This is interesting, I saw the police chatting to a few builders who had their vehicles parked in the active bike lane outside of the building they were working on when I was on my way to OH a few weeks ago.
Can't remember exactly where but it was on Military Rd somewhere along that area on the western side.
Maybe they just received their fines ?

The tacks claimed another rider this morning. Matt J copped one outside the building site heading north.

Well, that rules out a OH ride for me then, unless i can deviate and find a new route. What if i used my old Tricycle when i was 7 yrs old..it has Solid tubes- That'll work!
