Ride Summary
We did not expect many to turn up in view of the BUPA ride yesterday & TDU commitments today. So we have to give a special mention to those who rode BUPA and then came out for the GW ride today…they were Nick, Pete, John, Dale, Colin, Dave, Warren and Peter. TOP EFFORT!
We asked them to describe the BUPA ride experience in two words and the overwhelming consensus amongst them was “F***ING AWSESOME!”
Pre-ride we gave today’s GW newbies a very big welcome…..Clancy, Peter and Matt. Young Matt is only 10 years old and only got his bike at Xmas time. His previous longest ride was 16kms and today he completed a 55km ride with us. Champion effort Matt!
This was supposed to be an easy recovery ride. However from the start the guys who rode BUPA set a cracking pace….still riding on the adrenalin from yesterday’s achievement! The wind was kind to us all ride and we arrived in Two Wells in no time with average speed generally over 30kph. We enjoyed a well-deserved re-group there and took the opportunity to wish Paul a happy birthday.
From Two Wells it was time to head back along Hayman Road accompanied by a nice tailwind, through to Angle Vale and then back home. We arrived back at Jaspers before 10.00 and that left plenty of time to chat and hear more BUPA stories! A most pleasant “recovery” ride in perfect conditions.
PS >> GO GREENEDGE TOMORROW!
NEXT WEEK: Our post TDU ride will take us through the Barossa Valley to Lyndoch, Williamstown, Warren Reservoir, the Whispering Wall and back via Cockatoo Valley. Details will be posted on AC Events soon. YOU are welcome to come along and join in the fun! Today’s ride photo gallery follows:

Permalink Reply by Warren Porteous on January 23, 2012 at 11:11 Tks Craig for the efforts in arranging the team entry for the BUPA challenge. A broken front spoke stopped me for a while but crawled through to Bethany and pulled the pin, a 120k total having riden down to start from Dernancourt with Big Dan, Sam and Scott. Kaz started at Tanunda, rode to Lyndoch and back but missed our pre-arrange mtg due to my delay.
Sat rolled out at 7.30am with Kaz & Matt (10), went back for car after 28k's got back to Angle Vale and Matt refused the assist having worked through his pain (bored) threshold and continued with Mum Kaz until the end at Jaspers. Top effort, I know he'll be pushing to do it again.
