Hi all... one thing that I didn't mention in my Blog yesterday was the number of broken plates that are currently littering the bike track up the old freeway. I reckon there is just about one at every corner between Devil's Elbow and Eagle Mountain Track entrance.
If someone is driving that way any time soon, would you mind throwing a broom in your car to sweep the track for us please? Thanks!
OR if someone knows who is actually responsible for the upkeep on that track, I may be able to get someone "official" like to do it for us.
First ask DTEI's road hazards by phoning 1800 018 313 (24 hour number). Some bicycle routes are their responsibility. DTEI will remove on arterial roads crash debris and glass to the left that hinder cyclists.
Thanks, typo which I corrected. I report so many hazards that I usually email different authorities, then keep the record. You could email DTEI at email@example.com
Have learnt that it pays to add Road Repair's sentence of "If remedying this cycling hazard is not your responsibility, please let me know". Can be confusing where some main roads switch between control of DTEI and local councils. I asked DTEI if they would add to the website their table of who is responsible for which portion of road, which would also reduce their time when people contact the wrong authority, but no success.
Strange about the plates, they weren't there a fortnight ago. Something I have noticed on Nth East Rd just recently is the number of sparklet gas bulbs, in some places there might be one or two then you find up to a dozen, all together and all in the gutter. I understand the gas can be used and is used by some to get some kind of high but the dispersal seems a little odd.
