G'day Guys and Gals,
Just wondering what the go is with getting the LCD display replaced in my edge 500..
Is this covered under warranty or anything?
if not... know of anywhere i could go to get it replaced or buy a replacment screen?
i've only had this thing since the last 2 days of March so it's still my "be all and end all".
Many thanks in advance,
Brett
oh i getchya... i was still messing with screen layouts in anycase.. but thing is i think i figured the setup i wanted only a day before my mishap lol

I hope that this is not a silly question, ( have never owned one ) but are there any map issues if buying from overseas ?

You can buy maps for any country you wish to cycle in and then install them to your Garmin. Not all Garmin's will work with maps though so you want to do a bit of homework first before you buy a Garmin to be used with maps. I use a 310 Garmin both on my bike and for running. You can upload to Strava which gives you the map when you get home to see where you rode that day, elevation etc. Handy AFTER you get lost but not during. ;)
The 800 and 810 are cycling specific Garmins which will be usable for the mapping function in that you can punch in an address and it will give you turn by turn instructions to that destination.
Permalink Reply by James Jordan on Saturday First off I would suggest not buying Garmin maps. You pay a hell of allot for maps that are not particularly accurate (there are a number of streets up in the hills that have been their for over 20 years that don't show up), you still have to pay for any updates and don't transfer between units.
Open Street maps are far better and don't cost anything. The address search function is not yet working on the new 810 but it wont be long till they get it.
Permalink Reply by Big Block on November 20, 2012 at 16:48 My Garmin 800 arrived today from an online OS shop, to replace a 705 that broke its mount and hit the road. I will print the receipt and put it in the box.
