G'day Guys and Gals,
Just wondering what the go is with getting the LCD display replaced in my edge 500..
Is this covered under warranty or anything?
if not... know of anywhere i could go to get it replaced or buy a replacment screen?
i've only had this thing since the last 2 days of March so it's still my "be all and end all".
Many thanks in advance,
Brett

I have dropped my Bryton on concrete several times:-)
I haven't damaged the concrete yet (the computer is ok as well)
it may pay to go to a mobile phone repair shop they deal with screens so maybe they can help

i've got a spare, but would just like to get it replaced or fixed.. still works fine but i like to look at what i'm doing in regards to the ride itself..
I will call Garmin support now and see what they can do?
will keep you all updated.

Permalink Reply by Clyde.S.Dale on May 10, 2012 at 10:08 I have done exactly the same thing with my Garmin, only fell from the bike stem to the plastic tray of my ute (less than a metre distance) and it cracked the display. Was not pleased especially as it was such a small drop!.
I also hunted around to see if you could replace it with no joy, as the unit still was working all I did was cut down and use one of those "screen saver" sticky plastic things you put on phones/iphones to protect them so at least it would be waterproof. Seems to do the job and its still working 6 mths later (but I have not had it out in any torrential rain).
yeh, my glass screen is fine.. it's the LCD inside that's smashed so i can't see what's on the screen... much like what used to happen to the old nokia 3310's when thrown against a wall. lol.

Just got off the phone to Carl at Garmin support,
Very helpful.. he said that problems internally are to be replaced by Garmin under Warranty, all i have to do is send the unit itself to the address he gave me along with the case number and they'll send out a new unit.. i only hope that it's the same model sent back as i got the red and black unit and don't want a blue or gray unit lol.. Here's hoping i get one back in the next 5-10 working days. now to get my head around sending mail via courier. ughh..
