Bridge blocked on Linear Park bicycle path

Those that use the Linear Park bicycle path west of Hackney Rd, will have noticed the bridge across the river has been blocked this past week for repairs.  Just to update you on the status, I spoke to the workmen there today and they said it will be blocked for at least another week.

Rob, are the bollards really visible, including when low light levels? For safety reasons, bollards should have reflective strips added, preferably one silver and one red.

They are the standard bollards, with bright silver reflective strips. It is pretty much a stop, navigate bollards, get back on thing. I doubt anyone could get around them without stopping.

At least these bollards will be visible.

Ages ago I reported a wooden bollard and side fencing that is the colour of dull treated wood with no reflective strips. Noticed on 8-Apr-2012 during the ACC River Run (between brewery and the beach) has not been remedied, but did not record the location to report again. Can anyone help there?

I rode here on the weekend and none of this existed.

While it is a technical bit of the path I would think with care it should be fine.

To make it safer lets put lots of obstructions up for people to hit.

I wonder how much the consultant made from this recommendation?

I don't use that part of the LP all that often, prefering to use the streets around there.... but yes, I have noticed (about a month ago) that a permanent gate had been installed on the Northern side.

That side of the LP, at that point, is the Town of Walkerville. I have noticed over the last year that they have done a fair bit of work along their part of the LP.

The other side of the Torrens, and that section of LP, is the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters. As far as I am aware, NPSP have done NO work on any part of their section of the LP shared path, since I have been on Council.

I don't know who has responsibility for the bridge that crosses the River Torrens and therefore crosses between two Council boundaries.

I can follow up what's happening on my side, anything specific that people want to know?.

Sophia, be aware that sometimes a shared responsibility, e.g. Charles Sturt and West Torrens for Holland Street bridge.

I rode through this ...thing, this morning. There is already one of 6 orange plastic poles missing, leaving only the black base. 

I hope this obstruction gets removed. Who is it supposed to be helping???

There is more chance falling over from having to unclip 100% of every trip  through there, than from riding on that bridge..

I just took a walk on my lunch break and went across this bridge. What a joke. Whoever has jurisdiction over the bridge is not willing to expend any brain power to find a solution for it are they?

I will admit, I'm quite surprised no one has shifted the plastic bollards themselves (myself included).  I'd suspect the bollards are currently there in their current form to see how people react to them... Shifting them seems an obvious way to voice an opinion (I'm not suggesting throwing them in the river or anything juvenile, just lining the edge of the bridge rather than causing an obstruction) 

I wonder what would have happened to the plastic stumps if the rain last night and this morning caused the water to rise over the bridge again...

If we omit vandalism. When it floods and the orange plastic cones are separated from metal bases, even after the water has receded, the BLACK metal bases will be a cycling hazard.

I think they just need to build a new bridge...something that doesn't have such a steep angle and slope.

Most of the other bridges along linear park are easily manageable...why should this one be built differently?
