I decided that I wanted my bike serviced by someone that would actually service and make my bike better than when it went in.
BMCR Adelaide seemed to specialize in the service and repair aspects so I thought I'd give them a go.
First impressions were great workshop, lots of detail taken at booking and drop off and lots of standard services available along with the custom services if required.
I dropped my TT bike (cannondale slice)in for a weird knock during every second pedal stroke through the right pedal and some flaky gear shifting that I couldn't adjust out.
Was supposed to take 2 days, got the call a day later that all was ready.
They had done the following:

Faced (Machined) the bottom bracket shell
Cleaned greased BB
Straightened and aligned dérailleur hanger
Tuned gears
Replaced faulty joiner link

The BB shell issue is just poor tolerances during manufacturer and the hanger was probably bent when I had the bike shipped.

Needless to say the drive train is dead straight now, running and shifting beautifully.

I'll definetly be back. Great to know that they are looking to bring your bike up to the very best standard.

I was impressed!

How much did it cos Darren?

I get my mountain bike/commuter serviced at BMCR regularly.  They always do a good job.  Only problem is that you have to book ahead (normally a week).  They are only small team.  I like their friendly service and the fact that you can talk direct to the mechanics and see them at work.  They are probably no the cheapest going around, but as they say "you pay for what you get".

Go to their website and sign up for their newsletter. It is always a good read.

$100. Well worth it considering I have paid over $50 at other places and not really known what was done (if anything).

Yes you need to book ahead. Peace of mind if you have a big event or race on the cards.
Wow $100 is great! I would be happy to pay that. I paid $90 for my last service and am not overly convinced they did much!

I had my tandem/cargo bike serviced by BMCR a couple of weeks ago.

The bike is much smoother than it has ever run before, and I've had it serviced by a couple of well regarded shops/people previously.  The difference is really quite amazing.

It was a full service with a couple of minor repairs, and being a tandem it has two of somethings, so the price was a little over $200.

I also borrowed a 'loan bike' for about 3 days.  Fantastic idea.  I haven't actually ridden a modern lightweight bike before (this was a flat bar).  I now realise that all the people that pass me on the veloway aren't actually supermen - they just have much lighter bikes (only some of them are supermen).  The only issue with the loan bike was the shock of getting back on my bike and realising how heavy it is!

Great service, a good communication via email which I find helpful and quite rare for cycling shops.

They also don't sign you up for their newsletter without permission which is also unusual and appreciated (I have signed up).

I shall return.

Simon

I have been singing their praises foe ages, also do great bike fits!
Great shop and right attitude.
I went there last year for a full service/ strip down. They did a great job. The bike was actually better than new. They sorted out the couple problems I pointed out to them and they also fixed the ones I didn't know until I rode the bike the next day. Very happy experience and I will be making it a yearly habit to go back. They actually care.
