I get my mountain bike/commuter serviced at BMCR regularly. They always do a good job. Only problem is that you have to book ahead (normally a week). They are only small team. I like their friendly service and the fact that you can talk direct to the mechanics and see them at work. They are probably no the cheapest going around, but as they say "you pay for what you get".
Go to their website and sign up for their newsletter. It is always a good read.

Permalink Reply by hozozco on March 24, 2012 at 19:51 I had my tandem/cargo bike serviced by BMCR a couple of weeks ago.
The bike is much smoother than it has ever run before, and I've had it serviced by a couple of well regarded shops/people previously. The difference is really quite amazing.
It was a full service with a couple of minor repairs, and being a tandem it has two of somethings, so the price was a little over $200.
I also borrowed a 'loan bike' for about 3 days. Fantastic idea. I haven't actually ridden a modern lightweight bike before (this was a flat bar). I now realise that all the people that pass me on the veloway aren't actually supermen - they just have much lighter bikes (only some of them are supermen). The only issue with the loan bike was the shock of getting back on my bike and realising how heavy it is!
Great service, a good communication via email which I find helpful and quite rare for cycling shops.
They also don't sign you up for their newsletter without permission which is also unusual and appreciated (I have signed up).
I shall return.
Simon
