I'm looking to change my seat on my Avanti road bike as I keep getting saddle sore too easily.

What do people recommend as the most comfortable seat?

sorry to post this but try riding sans pants. You'll find it liberating :)

What is sans pants?
oh sorry franglais is often spoken in my house and I forget that not everyone speaks a little french :) lol  .. . . sans = without :)
I guess that means no undies? I can speak a little French but never learned the word for jocks!
yep no undies :) try and see, hundreds of cyclists cant be wrong :)

Hi Mark

I have a Specialized seat that is pretty good and I don't wear padded knicks (I wear baggy jogging shorts and have developed a hard arse!).

A quick look in a website - it might be sonoma gel recreational.

My saddle is a Serfas split saddle with padding. So I can wear baggy shorts without padding, or tracksuits in winter. My clothing suits utility cycling, and I wear the same clothes when I do other cycling. In fact, I now wear the same 'cycling' clothes all the time, because I do many short utility rides.

Saddle soreness may be other things, besides the saddle.  Did you try anti chafing cream?  Silcon , from pharmacies, lots of it, on all areas that chafe or get pressure.  Helps handle sweat / wet skin / chafing type  sores where skin rubs or breaks. That, as well as good bike shorts, and a good saddle...

It only happens on my roadie and not on my hybrid, so I sure it's the seat but thanks for the advice.

Also experiment with your seat angle...down at the front slightly to start with.  I had a saddle sore in one place that keep recurring for about 18 months.  After a bike fit with Steve Hogg it disappeared within a weeks or so & has only rarely been a problem since.
Thanks

Old school suspended leather Brooks saddles are comfy...
