Hello,

Is there a map or site that shows the best (safe, public etc) bike locking locations in the CBD - or anywhere for that matter.

I am riding to somewhere I don't usually go and instead of hunting about for a bike lock-up I'd like to know exactly where to head for before getting there.

GPS/ Google map would be good. If not should we start a public one?

AK

(I'm only going to Nth Tce but a few mins less hunting means more time for a coffee when I get there!)

I'm quite a fan of random posts around the city and there are plenty of them. And U-park have some free bike parking around. But I don't know about the rest. I think this might be a job for...*drumroll*...http://www.openstreetmap.org/
Good question! The Govt's TravelSmart guide for the city includes showing where you can hire bikes in the CBD, where there's bike lockers (at the railway), and also where you can hire bikes. But not detailed parking unf.

The TravelSmart guides in general are quite good, worth collecting the whole set as they fold up small and easy to tote around when cycling.

OpenStreetMap? Interesting. THere is also the http://www.walkscore.com/ project, who are thinking about adding cycling features.
We should have a location based service style iPhone app for Adelaide that "knows" where you are and can locate all facilities close to your current position....

This can also be a web service or be presented as a Google Maps layer...

I am sure that the Adelaide City Council have a hard copy map - I know there is a pocket guide to routes - from memory I think the lock-up facilities are on this??
