There is a great interview in two parts with bicycle designer Mike Burrows. I'll admit I only heard his name last week from Jeremy Miller. If you've never heard his name chances are you've ridden one of his designs under brands like Giant with the OCR/TCR compact frame series. He also designed the Lotus 108 pursuit bike that British rider Chris Boardman rode in the Barcelona Olympics.
This podcast is from the always unmissable The Bike Show from London. Listen
Mike Burrows has been around for a long time. Leading up to, and straight after the Barcolona Olympics, he and his designs got a lot of exposure on Australian TV. Most of his early development work was done in what you would call a backyard shed. His father was at the time, a retired pattern maker, amd made the first moulds for the carbon fibre prototype of the Barcolona track bike.

It is simply equivalent to Lamborghini Miura for cars.
Too bad UCI regulation killed many cool and odd looking bike like Lotus 108.
Mike literally wrote the book on bike design.

but you've seen nothing until you see his ratracers. And the best seatcover ever!

Harry Owen, a past president of BISA had a recumbent very similar to this about 20 years ago.

Permalink Reply by Notthefirst Brett on May 8, 2012 at 23:04 Thanks again, I didn't see a link to it on the part one page, I'll go back and have a look for it.
Not quite sure what I think of those wacky looking recumbent velocipedes but I'm sure it will be an interesting listen.
With my luck I'll probably end up a convert and have another bike on the wish list.
At least it looks like I could sleep in one if my darling wife gets peeved with even more bike expenditure.
Something along the lines of the old chestnut that "you can sleep in your car but you can't race your house"
