Although I have never run over a person (dog yes), I really do believe that pedestrians should walk facing the on coming traffic when on a shared use path.

I've come across a couple of pedestrians and a skate border walking down the freeway bike track (near Mt Osmond) lately. Been yelling out, none seem to hear me, almost come to a stop to go past them, feel like giving them a clip around the ears on the way past.....

Tim, you call it a bike track, which implies that pedestrians are not supposed to use it. Carefully check the signs and check bike maps at http://143.216.32.82/subject/Transport%2C+travel+and+motoring/Cycli...
If cyclists only, could notify Transport in DPTI and police Traffic Watch on 131 444 (24-hr) to try to get a patrol out. You could also ask DPTI for better signage to discourage pedestrians from using a bicycle only path. Email DPTI.EnquiriesAdministrator@sa.gov.au

I'll have to check again next time I go that way, but pretty sure it is a shared path up the top before the bollards, but bike only from the Tollgate up

I just checked Map 9 to crafers, the top and bottom of the bike track is called the Crafers Bikeway. The bit from Devils elbow to above Eagle on the hill is a bike lane on Mt Barker Rd. and then the Crafers Bikeway on up to the bollards. pretty sure I've seen three lanes at the top to the bollards, one with a painted pedestrian sign, but bikes only at the bottom bit which is why I believe its bike only, but both are called Bikeway according to the map.....

Hence why I only ride on the road, pedestrians are so unpredictable with absolutely no care for anyone else but themselves. At least motorists are predictable, i.e. they are going to turn in front of you, they are going to drive as close as possible to you, they won't obey right of way rules, etc etc

i would like to think I am a fairly mellow cyclist. I have very few run in s with cars. But FRICKEN pedestrians are starting to shit me to tears. They just keep stepping in front of me on roads, bike paths, single track everywhere. They jaywalk run red lights constantly and nothing gets done about it. AND THEY DON'T PAY REGO and still use the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I rode my bike like pedestrians walked I would be copping verbals - fairly too, from motorists.

I nearly cleaned up a 80 yr old woman as she was walking between cars to get to the path didn't even look she needed to clean teeth as I was that close I could smell her breath

whoevers video this is needs to be commended.... given his reaction he is obviously a good person....
ipod zombies are just dangerous.... ipod riders, well thats a whole another topic i guess so i wont digress there....
