i left work at 7.30 tonight and rode home up the expressway. it was such perfect conditions. clear sky, dead calm, and about 20degrees. managed to ride up the whole hill without stopping. my first attempt saw me off the bike numerous times. i'm really pleased that i am getting stronger/fitter. my stats show steady improvements in all areas. nothing amazing, but still an improvement.

oh, the headlight i mentioned in another thread was brilliant. i rode on its low setting from edwardstown to the top of the expressway hill, and only used the med and high for the high speed bits on the way back down. probably didnt need to, but had to use those modes at some point!

i also ordered a new saddle, glasses, bib shorts and a jersey from wiggle/ribble on sunday night. my last ribble order took ages to get shipped. this one only took 2 days. 1 day for wiggle. looking forward to seeing what the fuss is about! the shy shorts i bought are good as it is. i just hate the feeling of the waistband when in the drops.

was anyone else out around dusk, or after?

Good on you Simon. It's a beautiful ride.

Went up there at dusk around 6pm, never tried it at night, do you get light from the expressway or is it pretty much dark and you need to make your own light?

it was dark on the path- with hundreds of these black beetles everywhere. the cars were generally a bit below me, or too far away to provide any light, and there is a wall/rock cliff that hides their lights when they were alongside.
