I'm not anti Lance, in fact the opposite, I was a big fan, but if you believe all the reports, he did in fact test positive, back in 98 I think it was for epo (tested after the fact in 2000 I believe) and another at the Tour de Suisse? that was allegedly covered up plus another for steroidal cream that he then got a doc certificate after the fact.

I just wish it would all go away, so sick of hearing of it continually dredged up again. I always liked to believe he was clean, but just sooo many ex US Postal riders (and most of the top riders in general) went on to get busted in other teams I find it harder and harder to remain positive. No doubt he is a gifted athlete, and assuming that all the top guys were doping equally, he still kicked their butts.

Lance did say recently that he was tired of fighting charges any more, it was a little cryptic, wonder if it meant he knew the gig was up, or what.......?

Doping can mean many things, blood transfusions?

FUIC?

aahhhhhh if only FUIC helped that much!

My 2 cents worth:

1. Even if he's found by the USADA to be clean they'll keep trying to nail him. Nobody likes an arrogant Texan who's not afraid to speak his mind and I suspect there are a few people involved in all this purely to "settle scores". I laugh everytime I read about Lance's early races in Europe and how some of the European got shirty because the cocky foreigner in their midst didn't think twice about giving back what he got dished out.

2. Even if he's found guilty there's still the matter of the Livestrong Foundation and the huge amount of good its done for cancer sufferers all over the world.

Like him or hate him, Lance seems to be the ultimate tall poppy. Whether we will ever truly know his innocence or guilt is debatable but what he has done to help cancer sufferers the world over is undeniable. He has also raised the profile of cycling immeasurably with his success so let's hope it was done cleanly.

The USADA claims a wide sweeping investigation.  All they have done is listen to the 'crappy' evidence of the same cheats and liars, like Landis.  If it is so wide sweeping how come nobody else has been charged. I will be very surprised if any new information is revealed and of course there will still be NO evidence.  Horse Shit is what I think the American's call it !

I would like to be smug, but after a 10sec crazy dance this morning, have come to the realisation that there will be no winner in all this mess.

Sadly, I have to agree with you Derek about why there are no charges laid against his former teammates, it does smack a bit of leniency if you give damning evidence. It is also farcical it has taken this long to bring charges against him - Cycling looks to be a loser whatever the outcome.

I have never made a secret of my condemnation of Armstrong, and I have said in previous "discussions" with you that it will be a pyrrhic victory bringing him to justice.

The good he has done for cancer sufferers and research through his Foundation, has been done off the back of his TDF success, and if found guilty this will cause the most grief and damage.

As I have said in the past and will keep on saying. "Where is the evidence".  USADA does not have it, I bet. Just a whole lot of Horse Crap to justify the people which work in this Organisation and who are attempting to keep hold of their jobs.   Until the evidence is produced (other than that of the liar and cheat Landis or Hamilton) Armstrong is innocent.

From what i understand, the recent federal investigation was based on fraud, not doping, so assume they must have found a ton of evidence in that process regarding doping and witness statements etc

I wonder if Big George announcing his retirement has any bearing in this, I believe he was one of the key witnesses, although age is most probably the reason
