Rant post -

Wednesday, riding home from work in the rain and into a strong headwind... geeez this feels nice and hard all of a sudden....
A lovely tek screw sticking out of my front tyre sidewall... nice wet tyre change.. :(

Thursday night, riding home in the rain. pssshhhh - sliver of glass straight through my rear conti GP4000S.

Today, go for a nice beach ride in the sun... after 41km... sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh

AARRRRGH! ANOTHER bit of BLOODY GLASS sticking out of my rear tyre!!!!!!

I'm spending more money on tubes this week than I ever spent on parking and petrol!

Im thinking I might have to take the penalty and ditch the GP4000S's for some gatorskins or similar as this is just doing my head in!!!

Well I just went on PBK and bless that the TOUR25 (25%) still works.

Ordered some gaterskins and some GP4000S for summer (twinpacks).

$163 for both - not bad.

This is what happens when the bicycle tyre market is driven by preferences for low weight and low rolling resistance rather than puncture resistance...

So why are you replacing punctured tubes at any price, thats ridiculous.

Dont ditch the 4000's. Deflate them and pick out all the glass with a safety pin. I check mine about every 4-5 rides. Its easy and takes about 2-3 mins.

Primed for a big ride this morning, planned on Lofty then on to Lobethal and back through Montacute. Puncture fairy struck twice in Crafers, in the end didn't even make the summit - DOH!!!!! After the second one thought it was best to ride home and put on new tyres. Got about 4500km out of my Vittoria Diamantes but were starting to look pretty ragged anyway.

Don't despair!! The exact same thing happen to me about a month back. Front tyre (so badly cut I had to replace it, it was 2 weeks old!), then 2 rear flats, all in the space of a week. It was costing me a small fortune!! I too told the fairy to piss off, and he/she did!! Straight too you by the sounds of it!!
It will now move on to some other poor unsuspecting cyclist!
