The North is catered for, as is the South, the East pretty much has the hills at their doorstep, but us poor Westies need to ride before we can get a ride. Are there any other Westies keen for a Westie group ride?

I'm trying to get an idea of the interest in a Croydon-ish based semi-regular group ride. I'm thinking about leaving early on Saturday mornings from the Rivers on Port Road, heading up into the hills before looping back for coffee and baked goods at Adelaide's best bakery, Red Door on Elizabeth Street.

Let me know if you are interested and if you have any routes etc worth riding.

Cheers,

David what avge speed on the flat do you anticipate? and time up Norton?

As fast as the slowest rider, but with regroup spots along the way for faster riders. I was imagining a fairly leisurely pace though 30 on the flat and 25 minutes tower to to the top.

Sounds like a nice ride. When were you thinking of doing this?

1st one this Satirday morning. If we get the interest we will see if we can make it a monthly ride. If we get huge numbers though I'll have to run it by the guys at the bakery and prewarn them (it's the best but not the biggest bakery).

Unfortunately Saturday mornings is my usual outer harbor group ride.

yay a ride starting from henley!! hehe :O)  hmmmm how many k's is that tho? the most i've done is 50km so far and never done any hills.....i should probably not join these rides for a while.

Hi Jess, I did map it and I think it was about 65 km + whatever it takes to get to the start and from the end. You should come along, you have to start somewhere.
hehe thats true i suppose! i live 2 mins ride from henley, so at least not too
many extra km's will be added on to get there!

okies well if it still goes ahead ill join in, will be good
to push myself a bit!

I would love to but like you had an unexpected dance with a Holden yesterday - out of action for a couple of weeks + however long it takes to replace my bike.

As someeone who has recently danced with a Holden too, you have my sympathy. Hopefully you will heal as quickly and have your stuff replaced as quickly as I did. What happened, are you ok?

I won't hijack your thread - the gory details are here.  Short story is a commodore appeared virtually out of nowhere and I smacked into the front of him at 36kph.  No serious injuries other than mild concussion and bruising/soreness - I'm one very lucky boy.  My poor bike has a hole in the head tube.

Mine was a little holden that failed top give way at a T-junction, a couple of stitches a lot of bruising and grazes and a bike in 3 pieces. I had my replacement bike in two weeks and a day. Good luck and recover well.

You'll love the hyper-alertness of the first fortnight back on the bike.
