Another new bike

Not mine though :(

Saw a lovely Focus in The Bike Station today with a sold sticker on it, looked a bit like this

I'm lead to believe it's been bought by an AC member and will soon be seen on one of the southern group rides.

 Just waiting on some blingy wheels.

So who is the lucky rider ?

I took a DT Swiss wheel back that I purchased for a friend that needed to be re-spoked due to popping several spokes, I was told that it needed to be sent away. I called continuously & went to the shop & excuse after excuse & I all I wanted was communication but 7 weeks later it arrived back! 7 weeks for a re-spoke are u kidding me! When I sent the wheel away It had black spokes & then got it back it had silver spokes so now the wheels don't match but was I told before I picked it up, of course not! The mechanic never tuned my bike correctly even after me pointing out several times that it wasn't running well, then 1 visit to Up Front bikes & it was fixed & running great & hes a much better bloke too!

Noel knows his stuff and is spot on with advice. Lindsay is a great mechanic and you can talk to him in person to get problems sorted out - big plus over many LBS.

However, I waited 7 weeks re a trainer, 2 new wheels (DT Swiss) and a new rear cassette. I gave up 2 days out from RLC/BUPA and told them so.

They provide a lot of services at that centre and I can't help but think that they either need to streamline or employ more management staff to run each area more efficiently. Oh, and sack their supplier of trainers!

I had the same issue with my DT Swiss wheels popping spokes - glad to hear it was not just me. 

It did take a long time to get them fixed - but Noel did lend me a spare wheel, so was still able to ride - don;t think many LBS's would do that. 

Things can sometimes take a little time at the BS as they are always flat out - but I suspect our wheels took long more due to the supplier rather than the shop - I also suspect Noel gave up waiting on them as well, as the mechanic at BS re-spoked my wheels with the silver spokes as well, in a noticeably heavier gauge. Silver would not have been my first choice as well - but prefer to have something that will not break.

I cant comment on after sales service or mechanical work as I havent reached that point.  the changed colour of spokes and 7 weeks is a concern.  Sales and service to date has been spot on.

I went for a spin on the new bike this afternoon to blow out the cobwebs, get use to the gears etc.  Just a gentle spin around some back streets in Morphett Vale etc and got back home feeling rather good and proud of myself, until my wife said you forgot your helmet, ummm BUGGER, I was so caught up in setting the bike up and enjoying the ride I didnt even realise I had forgotten the helmet, lucky the boys in blue didnt see me out and about.

First impressions it was a very nice ride, it was very comfortable while still being responsive.  Sram gears will take a little bit to get use to, give it a week or two and they will be second nature I am sure.

Tomorrow a group ride with the SSRC must make sure I have the helmet on this time, LOL.

It have procrastinated for so long on which bike to buy, I was so excited to have it, funny enough I had that feeling walking out the door I was missing something, but thought no more of it.

Gee it was a comfortable ride.

Imagine if I got pingled I would always remember its first ride then, LOL.
