I respect Lauren Jackson, but I thought Anna Meares should be our Flag Bearer at the London Olympics as she has won an Olympic Gold Medal and as a cyclist she represents where Australia is going as a nation!
What do you think?

About 450 million people play basketball competitively around the world, so for Jackson to rise to the top of her sport is enormous. Its extremely hard to put forward any argument that says one athlete deserves the flag-bearing honour more than others, so there's always going to be people unhappy with the decision. If it was up to me, and I had to pick a cyclist, I'd give the honour of flag-bearer to O'Grady - based on his depth of history in cycling at professional and Olympic levels, and his versatility across road and track. But I'm thrilled Jackson has been picked.
Stewy would also be a good choice.
There maybe 450 million people playing basketball in the world but I am talking about Australia and in Australia basketball is on the decline while cycling is growing in leaps and bounds.

Your support for Anna Meares is commendable but I think you are being disrespectful to Lauren Jackson and the process that took place in selecting her.
.
No disrespect to Lauren Jackson intended, I was just expressing my opinion. I think it was a good choice, just that I would have preferred Anna.
Cycling as a leisure activity is growing in leaps and bounds - but I'm talking about competitive sport. In my opinion, there are a hell of a lot more kids playing competitive basketball then there are kids racing in competitive cycling. Competitive cycling has a long way to go to catch up with basketball. But anyway, on the show - let the Games begin.
Agreed!

Not sure what I think about basketball being in the Olympics of course (though it's the only Olympic sport I currently 'play', so should be loyal). At least this gets Loz up the front, unlike the plane trip ...

@Fergie - I have forwarded this post to Nick Green and he is reconsidering his decision as we speak ..........
You can't take it away from Lauren now! Even if we could forward to Nick Green.
