How iconic, Going on dark, Flying downhill on the linear trail at Walkley Heights.
30-35kph on my hybrid on gravel, around a sweeping bend and into my lights
appears a brown snake across the whole blasted track ... SH*T ...
I cant stop, I cant swerve, all I had time to do was unclip, put my feet on the
top bar and pray.
I was truly fortunate. For whatever reason it didnt wrap around my wheels,
it didnt flick up and most importantly, it didnt bite me.
Tonight I truly have something to celebrate.
Keep your eyes open people - they're out there.

LOL I'd rather a close encouter with a car anyday.....the driver might be dangerous,
but at least they arn't poisonous.

Go bye a lottery ticket while the luck holds.

LOL Already done.

Pity you didn't "accidentally" run over it.

We are getting more than our share at our place at the moment.

I did run over it, that was the scary part

Poor thing, it probably has a very painful broken back.

Snakes are very muscular (I have stroked a non-venomous python) and probably survived the bicycle wheels.

Yeah same thing happened to a mte of mine up at mallalla: riding along on his 250cc when all of a sudden its there in front of him, at least 8 foot or more of nasty brown snake on the path of his motorcycle....mate ran over it, did the same as you as in pulled his legs up as high as he could...funny thing is(or not so funny depends who you ask) he stacked the bike because of loss of control/panic and flipped off the bike, he somehow didnt get biten, the snake bolted after the crash. Mate found out how lucky he was to pick his legs up just in time, because his fuel tank had 2 big bite marks in them!! Crikey!!

I ran over a brown snake at castanbull, was moving so fast the only thing that gave it away was the hiss as i rode over it.

Poor thing, We'd have to be unlucky to get nipped.

Also my team mate and i were in Jindabyne checking out the wicked wombat enduro course, It was a night ride filled with constant russling bushes. About 15 minutes in he got hit by a wombat.

Wombat won and we figured out why they called it the wicked wombat.

While riding the Mawson Trail on an unsealed road behind Kapunda, I rode past what I thought was a stick lying on the road only to have it rear up and strike at my foot as I went past. Fortunately I was just out of its reach!
