Amy Gillet Rail Trail - Woodside to Charleston

Hello hello,

I just thought I would let you know I have riden stage 2 of the rail trail and it is divine!!!

It is like riding on silk :) The tar is 100 times better than the first stage.

Don't be in too much of a hurry to rush up to the hills to ride on it as it isn't finished yet!

They still have about 2km of tar to lay.

Unless of course you want to do some CX training.

Thanks Nic I was thinking of doing this one in the school holidays . Is it ok with roadies?

Thanks Nic, I can't wait until it's completed all the way to Mt Pleasant. My Wife works at Verdun and my Parents live at Mt Pleasant so I will use it regularly.

We are so proud of our 4yo who rode his 12 inch with trainer wheels in the rain from Charleston to Woodside last Sunday, average uphill 5kph, downhill 9kph, cadence impossible to count!! After lunch at Woodside Providores back to Charleston, all up about 10km. Loaded his bike back on back of the bike trailer (with him inside the trailer) & returned home to Birdwood. Great day . Agree it is a much smoother surface. Consensus is we need to take off the trainers, especially as the sloping footpath east side of Woodside was not suitable for a bike with trainers.
