If you give him a call on 0422 359 449 and say Trevor told you to call, he will fill you in on the ups and downs of the organizing of a trip like this one.

Fastest time was Tullamarine Airport to Mt Lofty in 48:30 (including nap and eating breaks). That was back in 2005 when I couldnt afford the extra 70$ to fly direct to Radelaide from Cairns so took the cheaper ticket to Melburn and rode from the Tullamarine airport home to Magill.
I rode the 8 the whole way. Not a pleasant road but the fastest if you want to do a Strava time. ;)
The most scenic route was going the coast the whole way. Once you get to Geelong the traffic picks up but so does the shoulder width. Riding to Melburn is a great way to start touring as there is plenty of stops along the way. I rode Norwood to Perth and sure was glad I had some prior touring experience.

I rode the second half of this ride from Portland and joined the nine others (including Smudge and Chewie) who rode from Melbourne.

Permalink Reply by Ian Clifford on September 19, 2012 at 18:28 Is there a reason for the ride, or is it for fun? Sounds like a good challenge either way.
