Done melbourne to Adelaide via Great Ocean Road.....nice trip it was:)

Maybe?

I have never done it but is on my to do list So if it works in o.k with work i would be keen i think it is a 3 to 5 day trip obviously depending on the route and how hard you want to go

Hi Adam, my work-mate Joe and a group of riders have done this trip twice for charity.  If you give him a call on 0422 359 449 and say Trevor told you to call, he will fill you in on the ups and downs of the organizing of a trip like this one.

Ive riden Adelaide to Melbourne twice and Melbourne to Adelaide once. Always solo and unsupported with just around 2kg luggage on my road bike. Gore tex bivvy bag ftw.

Fastest time was Tullamarine Airport to Mt Lofty in 48:30 (including nap and eating breaks). That was back in 2005 when I couldnt afford the extra 70$ to fly direct to Radelaide from Cairns so took the cheaper ticket to Melburn and rode from the Tullamarine airport home to Magill.

I rode the 8 the whole way. Not a pleasant road but the fastest if you want to do a Strava time. ;)

The most scenic route was going the coast the whole way. Once you get to Geelong the traffic picks up but so does the shoulder width. Riding to Melburn is a great way to start touring as there is plenty of stops along the way. I rode  Norwood to Perth and sure was glad I had some prior touring experience.

In the eighties, I used to drive to do it in 6 hrs and sometimes do a return leg after I dropped folks off in same night.

That's by car btw. Lol

I was with Chewie for Melbourne to Adelaide, nice ride, definitely take the coast road tho, more scenic.

I rode the second half of this ride from Portland and joined the nine others (including Smudge and Chewie) who rode from Melbourne.

It was certainly a most memorable ride......

i'm interested.

Is there a reason for the ride, or is it for fun? Sounds like a good challenge either way.
