Ideas please.

Last year we had a slow ride in the morning and drinks at the Wheatsheaf.

This year I'm up for ideas. I am thinking the date should be Sunday Dec 11 and the social ride would be the social event 'Cycling Santas' in the morning for the charity minded and then drinks at the Wheatsheaf after 5pm... pretty creative.

So any interesting ideas let's hear them. Firstly I am not sure if any upfront/ door ticket prices will work. A different venue suggestions are welcome but around the CBD is best.

There will be lucky door prizes etc.

I like the Wheatsheaf but it might be worth looking at the Daniel O'Connel in Nth Adelaide (Tynt St I think) Juz had her quiz there, nice pub, staff seem friendly, large courtyard area where it may be possible to park bikes safely. Unfortunately I shall be a late arrival due to work.

I second the notion for The Dan. :-)  Excellent venue - rear courtyard is great for bike safety and the staff are loads of fun. :-)

Thanks for suggesting this Clive (And yes, Tynte st, North Adelaide)

Just name the venue and I'll be there!

OK. The Daniel O'Connell sounds good but would it need to be booked or is it a 'turn up an take over' kind of scenario?

Ask Juz she has influence, asks for a diet coke and gets champagne.

As someone who no longer drinks I would be just as happy with the diet coke.

People probably think I am difficult.

I would be keen depending on the details.

don, i usually drink fruit juice. brute champagne would be about the only alcohol that would tempt me, but most seem to like sweeter drinks or beer.

hehehe, thanks Clive :-P

Gus - we could just turn up to the front bar and take over, but best to give the pub a heads up that a bunch of us will be rocking up.  Probably best to check the date with the pub and that the rear courtyard could be made available for anyone to store bikes should they choose to ride in.  They do get a lot of bookings for chirstmas stuff so I think booking anywhere would be necessary, even with rough numbers.

Things can be sorted though.

And the champagne was at my tivia event - the guys behind the bar were looking after me very well. But I really did want a diet coke...

Yea yea yea, diet coke please, nod nod, wink wink

please dont schedule this one Dec 23rd as that is my parents 50th wedding anniversary :)
Let me know if you want to do Daniel o Connor.
We are kind of related and can do a deal perhaps.

Frank! That makes us kind-of family too! :-)  I adopted them as family when I lived with the eldest daughter :-)

So yes, AC Christmas Party at the Dan is sounding more and more awesome. My reccommendation is to book the courtyard; plenty of space, bikes can be kept out there.
