I reckon this is a once in a generation chance to make a change and keep Adelaide as a liveable city. Take a moment to have a say.

Agreed, currently the discussion is being pushed by people like Leon Byner on Radio 5AA, he is very opposed to the plan and is doing all he can to ridicule it.
He is calling in people to his breakfast show like Peter Vaughan of Business SA to criticise the plan. Vaughan calls the "obsession with cycling 'lycra lunacy', and that the strategy is "an ideological jaunt". Byner says that "only a handful" of bicycle riders ride to the CBD. He says that there aren't many people who bike in to the City, just because of practicality. He says that asking people to use a bike or walk in to the city from outer suburbs is 'nutcase' stuff - indeed - he is delibrately misrepresenting the strategy, which of course is NOT calling for that!
John Darley, SA MLC, on Byner's show, says that if ACC persue this strategy, they'll be "committing suicide" for the City.
David Pisoni, Member for Unley, was on Byner's show also, and says that the public transport problem (of people parking their cars in Unley, then catching a bus in and filling up buses) will get worse in the ACC puts up parking fees or restricts all day parking.
Ch 7 are also clearly against the plan.
However, Nathan Paine of the Property Council is supporting it. He didn't get to go on Byner's show.
Please people, take the time to read it, comment on it, and above all, don't let people like Leon Byner spread inaccurate misinformation.... unless you think he is right, and only a handful of bike users will ever ride to the city. And we're all nutcases for trying to give people options.

I didn't realise that Byrner was still around, much as I like to my 891 I might be tempted to cross over briefly to listen and contribute. What time is he on.

What is the adversing budget of car companies compared to other forms of transport?
It is simply self imposed censorship in the media.
An indirect form of cash for comments.
Perhaps we need to have bike rides that coincide with when leon bynor goes to work?
What demographic listens to talk back radio anyway
The the saying that empty vessels make the most noise true in this case?
Or should people just contact the sponsors / advertisers of his show and ask why they are supporting an anti-environmentalist?
Should we assume these companies don't care about the environment and livable cities as well.

Can someone get across to such people that bicycles are good for business? One very obvious no-brainer is that if people spend less on cars, vehicle maintenance and petrol, then more money to buy goods in the CBD.

I avoid the city if I can, the biggest disincentive for me is the cost of parking and /or the lack of free parking. making the city more pedestrian or cyclist friendly by reducing and increasing the cost of parking means my dollar will be spent outside the city so maybe Byner and Business SA have a valid point.

but you already avoid the city anyway so this suggests that given a choice you will spend your money elsewhere.
