Hello Adelaide cyclist members

I've been reading this forum for almost a year now, since I chose Adelaide as my new home. I'm from a very far land, about 16000km away. I was an enthusiastic road cyclist in my country Venezuela, I am not very experienced rider but I've seen 3 digits in my odometer several times. My country is quite good to ride because we have tropical weather, no station, almost the same temperature all year. However, is not very friendly for cyclists. Ride alone is not quite a good idea. That's why cyclists get together and help each other regardless of whether they have been introduced or not. And share the taste for a coffee or a good beer after a good saturday ride...
As you may know moving to a new country is very challenging and requires several changes in life and way of living. One of the things I want to keep and improve in my life is cycling, and Adelaide seems to be a great place to ride, several bike lanes and very friendly people.
I bought a bike yesterday, an Azurri one, I hope I've done a good choice. I want to meet you and join a team or a group. I'm looking forward to ride tomorrow morning but I have no idea where to go as I've been here for just a week and a half.
Hope to see you there.

Hi Densy, Tell us which suburb you live and work in and we can tell you where your local riding groups are.

Hi Clive, I'm living now in kurralta park, I'll be here for a couple of week until I move to a permanent place.

Not just where you are but when you have time. I'm riding for rehab purposes at the moment but would be glad to have someone to show me how it's done. Currently riding weekdays off major roads in the inner southern suburbs ie belair national park, southern veloway, coast to vines etc.
Just read your comment and your not far from me. If you are around during the week let me know..

I'll be glad to let you know.

welcome to adelaide if you go to the event page you will see many different rides you can join in on.

Thanks for the advice, I'm checking the page. I want to hit the road tomorrow.

Welcome! Head up to the Megabike bike shop on King William Rd in Unley. Youll need toget there by 730am. They have group rides of various speeds that head down anzac hwy and then north along the beach then back to Unley. The first group that leaves is unlimited speed, then a fast 40km/h then 40km/h, then 35km/h then 30km/h. The speeds indicate the maximum speed the group is meant to travel at.

Thanks...sadly I read this comment too late, but I will go next week for sure.

Good morning Densy, hola

You will be very welcome with Gator Cycling...Sunday mornings, meet at 8am (ride off at 8.30am) from the corner of Hutt Street & Wakefield Street, just up Anzac Highway from Kurralta Park.

Good rides, good fun, good people from my experience with them.

Have a look at our information for tomorrow's ride in the events column on this website.

Quedamos?

Hasta luego

Roger

He Densy, welcome aboard a great forum, I can highly recommend Gator cycling and they are not far from your home for Sunday ride.  Bike SA website have lots of group rides as well.

Have you found work and what work are you looking for?

Hi Paul, thanks for the advice, I'm going to ride with Gator Cyclist tomorrow. I'm an Electronic Engineer, with experience in telecommunications and IP networks, I'm beginning the job hunting process preparing all the documentation in the Australian way.
