Someone had the route early.  1330m of climbing

http://www.bikemap.net

you mean the 'wind catchers'

Out of the few group ride jerseys I've had - the BUPA one was serious poo.

@Gus...what colour will it be......the suspense in killing me.....another one for the pool room :)

Absolutely terrible route. Shorter and easier than the last 3 years The pros will do this in well under 3 hours. It is called the challenge tour for a reason isn't it? There's only slightly more climbing than Amy's Ride and less than Ride Like Crazy. First time I've seriously considered not riding.

Jeez!!! This all sounds so familiar, don't like the jersey, don't like the colour, don't like the finish, don't like the route, don't like the start. Modbury is about 10km from Norwood, it's not that far and a dam site shorter than the hike all the northerners have to ride to get to Flinders for AMY's ride each and every year. Get on your bike and enjoy the ride, the companionship and for those that want it tougher ride home again.

+1 Clive. Don't like it, don't do it.

Amy's ride is a logistical nightmare for us Easterners/Northerners.

OK maybe we are a bit harsh but we are just airing out opinions lol

It is great that we have the challenge and if it encourages more people to get on their bikes and give it a go then so be it.

@Kara It's not the logistics, it's the legs, I am yet to ride to the start, do AMY's and ride home.

stop being so positive Clive!!!

The main difference is - we all know Amys ride is in the same spot each year.

The TDU has legs covering all over. Why would you do a community challenge covering the same ground as last year?    Smacks of laziness.  I'm so angry I could take my helmet off!!

Love your work Clive.

I think, and this is my opinion, that people are missing the big picture. This route is not designed for the community ride. The route is part of a 6 day race called "The Tour Down Under". The route is designed on the day to make up a good week of racing by the pros not the public. Think of the bigger picture. dont like it, dont ride it. Do we want the tour to be a washout after the third day like last year. The day is a balance of what will happen for the rest of the week.

ummmm yeah.   I don't think anyone is saying the TDU is designed as a community ride.

But couldn't a different day be picked for the BUPA challenge?  It would be nice to have some new scenery (particularly a departure from Flagstaff Hill)

Perhaps the BUPA challenge has to go through Mt Pleasant.....I might be missing something.

Actually if Clive is putting up rooms.....I might be in.
