1st Magpie of the season :-) Riding North up Blewett Springs Road. Just past Ronald Road and about 400 metres before you get to Chapel Hill Road. 3 times he dived me (slow up hill) and he sits on the power lines. Yep he marked my helmet and he attacks from the rear left.

Permalink Reply by Rich on July 20, 2012 at 11:45 Not been swooped yet but have seen a few looking. I have been told the Brighton Sation maggie has started - bastid!
I've fitted a small red LED light to the rear of my helmet and have that flashing. I'm hoping this may put some off the attacks.
Has anyone tried this?
Permalink Reply by Trent on July 20, 2012 at 12:35 not a bad idea. would be interested if this does work as a deterrent
Permalink Reply by Paul N on July 20, 2012 at 16:46 Yep. I tried this last year after too many hits from the maggies on One tree Hill & Golden Grove Rds. I used my excessively bright red Dinotte light on my helmet, and tried flashing and steady modes.
It made no difference to the magpies at all. Apart from helping to highlight their target - my head!
