No its true. I picked up two, $15 wireless cycle computers for Katmandu at Westfield Marion tonight. Original price $49.98. Has Exercise time, distance travelled, CO2 offset, average speed, max speed ODO and clock. The Marion store has about 8 left. Unsure if the other store are doing it for the same discount price. The girl behind the counter said the sale finishes tomorrow, but these maybe discontinued stock. So if you need a cheap computer for the second bike or for the kids, get in quick.
They also had single presta mountain bike tubes for $1. About 10 in stock.

Unless you are on of the top 500 polluting companies in Australia, I doubt you need a computer that calculates the cost of carbon pollution

Permalink Reply by Shav Bird on May 2, 2012 at 10:49 Thanks Trevor. I go check them out. For $15 it might or might not be good, but it doesnt hurt to give it a crack. Thanks for the heads up.
For those that are wondering, I have found a link to the unit Trevor has bought. HERE

Are non GPS bike computers beginning to be old technology?
Had a quick look at the modbury one, no sign of them being marked down there
Permalink Reply by Lucas Pittaway on May 3, 2012 at 0:14 Cheers for the info, I picked one up from the Modbury store after work today, managed to navigate the frustrating settings and get the thing fitted with my makeshift screwdriver for the ride down hill. According to the little mechanism I hit 70.68 km/h coming down the Grove Way on my 80's Repco, I'm quite proud. Luckily the colours go perfectly with my bike, too bad the controls are outrageously confusing and it takes half a minute to realise I'm moving from getting on the bike. In hindsight I should've grabbed all the stock left and equiped half of my collection and a few for spares. Thanks again btw.
Permalink Reply by Trevor Hill on May 3, 2012 at 8:05 Haven't fitted mine yet, thought I had a look at the instructions. Some bike computers have a chart with the wheel size to enter, I noticed with this one you have to measure out your wheel size. How did you go with this? Marion store still had about 4 black and 5 pink on the rack. May pay to head down south to Marion for the late night shopping tonight and pick up a couple more.
Permalink Reply by Lucas Pittaway on May 3, 2012 at 11:33 Well the deal finished yesterday otherwise I would grab a few while I'm down that way today. I didn't have the luxury of a tape measure with me out the front of Kathmandu so I went with the trusty Sheldon Brown guide and removed about 3 units for the low tread I'm riding on. I've noticed if you fit it with a small gap between the magnet and sensor then it barely picks up anything so it's best to have quite the gap between the two, works perfect like that.
Permalink Reply by Trevor Hill on May 3, 2012 at 12:52 Although the sale finished today, I spoke to the girl on the phone at the Marion store and she will hold the price till tomorrow. I would strongly recommend that If your keen to give them a ring and get them to hold some. They still have the black/grey and green/white. Kathmandu Marion 8296 4755.
Or ring Modbury and see if they will hold the price despite the fact the sale has finished. 8396 0213
