Event Description

I've created a team name on the Hutt St site for us, surprisingly it is "Adelaide Cyclists". (Hmm, put much thought into that one did you Mark?) The password to join the team is "cowabunga". Hope to see a few familiar faces out there on the day!

If you can't make it, but would instead prefer to drop some coin of the realm on them, you can here: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/adelaide_cyclists

Within the heart of the south-eastern corner of the City of Adelaide, the Hutt Street Centre is a frontline agency for homeless and vulnerable people. The Centre is accessed by people who sleep in our adjacent parklands, squat in nearby buildings, and reside in cheap hotels, boarding houses, community housing and public housing

Hutt Street Centre's Vision is for a society where everyone is respected and encouraged to reach and sustain their full potential in a healthy, safe and inclusive community.

This year walk a mile in my boots is on Friday 6th August at 7.30am, hope you can join us. Rain, hail or shine the walk will start at Rundle Park on East Terrace and continue along Hutt Street to Park 18 on the corner of South Terrace and Hutt Street, for a typical Hutt Street Centre breakfast that was enjoyed by all last year.
Proceeds of this year’s walk will go to our new EaT (Education and Training) program and for other every day services we provide.

Why am I involved with these guys? If you know me, I pick my charities I support, and these guy have done some great work with my mentally disadvantaged sister over the years. She still lives within the Hutt St Precinct, where the services that she needs are most easily found.

What an awesome morning. 1500 of us out there for the walk. Three of us being Carla, Robert & myself attracted $400 in donations, plus our entry fee means $460 to Hutt St from us & our supporters!

To give an understanding of what that can buy:
$350 gets breakfast & lunch for 200. 200!!!! wow.
$50 buys a swag
$20 buys a wool jumper

Bloody amazing really, and a massive thanks to everyone who donated and participated. Freakin' Superstars.

Yeah, it is a worry. Usually I take in one car load of gear a year to the Precinct, last December I took in 3 car loads of kids toys & clothes, all either good quality or brand new. Dropped it all in at my sisters, and it was all snapped up the next day.

Wondering if we could maybe do an Adelaide Cyclists Toy Run for them this December? Decorate our bikes, do a bit of a ride around the City, and drop toys and or foodstuff in to them? Think we need to chat about that one Jim!

Too true Jim. I was lucky when I was living sans cash in Queensland. I had a panel van I could sleep in if it was wet, and awesome beaches when it was dry.
