Event Description

It’s the Southerners' turn to try hosting a Cogal, after the success of the Adelaide Cogal earlier this year.

It'll be 130ish km's of rolling roads around the Fleurieu Peninsula, so either drive down for the day, or convince the family it'll be a little getaway down south & make a weekend of it (I definitely don't plan on being in a driving state on Saturday night).

Join us for a Casually Deliberate day sampling some fine roads/scenery and great coffee and food along the way. Feel free to let any others you think may be interested know.

Thanks for hosting!

Was a gruelling but rewarding/eventful ride looking back. The last 20ks were probably some of the worst I've had on a bike given the wind and weather but despite that, I'm already looking back to the weekend with fondness! Congrats to all those who finished.

Will definitely be bringing my bike with me next time I'm down that way and we can ride again. Cheers

Thanks to all that braved the elements last Saturday for the Velominati Cogal.

Whilst the ride was cut short we still saw some amazing efforts and I hope all riders had a great time even though the weather was outrageous. Great effort by Mikael to ride down the night before in order to support the event.

Total of 20 riders started with 11 of us ending back at Nino's in various shapes and forms to enjoy what was possibly the best beer and pizza tasted for a long time.

Regards to all

Guys - just noted the 'Catastrophic' Fire rating for the Mt Lofty Ranges (includes the Fleurieu) tomorrow.  First for the season.  I'd be more concerned about that....  Ride safe and take care!

Good to have you along Ollie, hopefully mother nature is a little kinder on us than is predicted!

Hi Mikael, I think we met on the morning of the RGR, I rode for Treadly. I'll be down tomorrow with a mate, hopefully having shaken off this cold I have and can stand the 40 max thats out there!

Have a great time at the Velominati Fleurieu Peninsula Cogal all those that participate. Take it easy and keep hydrated.

I'll still be there but in light of the forecast I may be a bit more Casually Deliberate and may be riding a bit an appropriate pace & or distance. Will play it by ear.

I'm very sorry Mikael - the BoM is predicting 40 at Victor Harbor on Saturday, and 42 in Adelaide.  I had been hoping to combine the Cogal with some additional distance, but in view of the extreme heat I have decided to postpone my planned long ride by 24 hours, to take advantage of the southerly change expected Saturday night.

Massive 'Rule #9' kudos to the brave souls who do ride with you on Saturday  :-)

The BOM seems to be expecting about 35 on Saturday down at Victor, while a little warm, I can't see that causing too many issues.

Justin and Shane, Pace will not be high so hopefully temp wont be an issue. 8:05 is about right but Nino's are opening from about 7am for coffees.  Hopefully back to Victor by 2pm approx ....  Weather and stop dependent .    This is also a "ride at your own risk " ride so no set rules.   Hope that helps
