Event Description

After the success of our last track night and due to popular it's track night #2.

Friday March 11th from 8.30pm

If you would like to come I do need an RSVP

The cost is likely to be $15 (but might be a little higher depending on numbers).

------------------------------

We had a lot of fun last year and lots of people have been asking when can they have a crack at the track. If you don't want to ride come along, bring the family and say hi.

Bring sneakers to wear with toe straps - this is the best if you are new at it. You can bring your pedals if you want but might not be able to change the bike's pedals over so be prepared.

BYO helmet as well.

We'll have a Cycling SA coach on hand to help out and have a go at pace lines and test yourself with a flying 200.
From the SA Cycling site:
Friday nights provide an opportunity for those people who are new to the track a chance to give 'the boards' a try, as well as providing returning track riders a refresher course on riding a fixed gear! With every rider of all ages catered for in a non-threatening environment, you can get used to riding on the wooden track at your own pace. Learn important skills such as track bunch riding, swapping turns, being comfortable riding up the top of the track and starting and stopping, while increasing your speed and fitness - there's no rest on a fixed gear! It is highly recommended that juniors and seniors alike do at least one Friday session to familiarise themselves with the track before 'graduating' to join in one of the other Cycling SA weekly track sessions.

Mark. First track night we had we shared the venue with a group from Euride. They all looked fairly spiffy in their team colours and were all very fit looking roadies. Fast on the track too, but it was one of theirs that was the only one to fall whilst on a cool down lap and he fell quite heavily. No serious injuries though the lycra was stuffed, did feel a bit sorry for him as his fellow team members laughed and cheered very loudly.

Didn't hurt, only a dented pride. But hey I got back on and had a real fun night. Look forward to the next one.

Being from Newton I was like Isaac Newton. "What goes up must come down," and I did, splat on my first attempt!

Thanks Angus for a great night, big efforts were put in by all for the flying 200's..... We should make this a regular event.

Was also great to finally put a face to some of the names always popping up on here.  Look forward to seeing you all out there again.  :-)

I did a 14:something I think, and actually rode over the piping shrike on the bend, which was much more a mental hurdle than anything. I kept wanting to accelerate into the bend so I would not fall down.

Congratulations to everyone for conquering their tracky fears and their huge flying 200m efforts, and thanks to Angus for organizing it.
