Event Description

As an incentive for everybody out there to get fit/improve their fitness/improve their cycling this summer, I am proposing a personal challenge for anybody and everybody who is interested.....

The place? Well, it has to be Mount Lofty of course! From the dog kennels to the bollards to be exact.

The concept? Over the next month or so, go up there and record a time. This will be your base time, which is also hopefully a PB. Then, over the next few months, get those legs pumping as much as possible, with the aim to improve on your PB.

Then what? On the 26th of Feb, we will hold a group event, where everybody who wishes to participate can come along. It will be a time trial of sorts, where cyclists leave at 1 minute intervals. Your new and improved times will be recorded, and hopefully you will have bettered your PB.

The winner? You!!!!!!! If you beat your PB that is :-)

For those of you not wishing to have your time displayed for all, feel free to either PM to me, or you are welcome to keep it to yourself.

Starting point for the ride is the stobie pole just past the Kennels, with the DTEI switchboard attached. Finish point is the bollards.

*As an added bonus, there will be a choccie frog on offer for the person who improves their time by the greatest percentage :-)

Good stuff guys....sorry I couldn't make it today. Great to hear that PBs were smashed :-)

Great improvement Fraser - I think Darren owes you a choccie frog!

Yep, thanks for the support this morning guys.
Looking back to Oct last year, I've been able to carve off a good 5:12 from my time, so really pleased with the 21:05 recorded this morning - nearly a 20% improvement, (but there's been a lot of k's and vertical climb happened since then). Still, previous best was 23:05 back on the 7th of Feb, so still about 10%. And I agree Paul, I'm sure I saw Rob at the start, must have blinked or something, because once he dissapeared round the Devils Elbow, that was it - Gone. Great effort everyone.
That was a good run back down Cross Rd too!

Only 4 takers this morning :  Rob, Alastair, Fraser and me. Youth won the day with Rob taking several minutes off the rest of us. I took 6.8% off my time from last year's Dog's Bollards but suspect most of that may be down to more favourable wind today.

I'll be there but maybe not doing a huge push, see how the morning shapes up.

Hmmm...with the weather forecast to now hit 37 degrees tomorrow, it may not be the  best idea for anybody to be attempting a TT up Mount Lofty anyway.....

At the risk of a public berating, I sadly have to bail out of my own event :-( Unfortunately, I am unable to make it tomorrow.....hope all of you who give it a crack manage a PB, I'm looking forward to seeing the results!

Can't make it on Sunday, but thought I would throw the challenge out there...

My first ever timed effort on this section occurred on 23 November last year posting a 23.30.

Last night I got that down to 20.21.  Improvement of 3.09.  Dunno how to work out % improvements, but I am happy with that!  Its all on strava if I need to substantiate it.

Good luck everyone!!!  Have fun!

The Australian MTB championships are being run at Eagle MTB park this weekend. I hope temporary community event speed limits don't slow anyone down!

Unfortunately I have only done this ride once and it was before I had strava and/or my garmin. Honestly I don't even know where the bollards are! I am going to try and get up there and post a time in the next week or so.
