Comment by Don (Who's lost?) Nairn on April 27, 2012 at 14:45 I have a 3Kg poodle but she doesn't realize she is a little dog.
I will probably pop along for a look but leave the dog at home.
Dog sledding is only performed in the cooler months in Mount Crawford or Kuitpo, so evener cooler in the forrests. Mainly Huskies and Malamutes, but we have German shepherds, labradors and samoyeds that participate.
The sprint race is only 100m and is good training for the sled racing.
Comment by heather on April 8, 2012 at 21:21 This sport in Australia has been shown on TV. Not so good for well furred dogs in warm weather. In a country city last year I saw someone's uncommon transport of a small chariot pulled by a dog.

HI Gus, yes Dog sledding is a world wide sport, obviously in other countries they do it mostly on snow, but we do it here in SA in the forests, this version is a 100m sprint race.
Comment by Gus K on April 7, 2012 at 10:10 this is something I have never heard of. Is it a worldwide sport?
I'm not sure if my old cocker with arthritic hip could pull anything except her own weight to get to her food bowl but I am keen to come and check it out. Please post a discussion or blog post with some photos on the main page.
