Event Description

The fourth installment of this CERVO ROSSO GROUP RIDE with a twist!

Required:
1. A sense of adventure,
2. GPS cyclo-computer or Strava-enabled smartphone,
3. Vertically minded thinking

All roads lead to Glenelg on October 14 for the fourth Red Deer Brevet - where you score points according to the route you take to get there.

The aim is to arrive at Moseley Square, Glenelg at 11:00 am for a well earned brunch. However, how you choose to get there is entirely up to you. You can start whenever you want, and get there however you want. Once you get there, you will be awarded points according to the formula.......

Climbing metres divided by km's travelled divided by elapsed time. (800m divided by 60km in 2 hours 30 minutes would give you 5.3 points as opposed to 1200m in 85km over 2 hours would give you 7.1 points and hence a higher points score)

Points will then be tallied and a random loading applied to qualified riders to find the winner (who may not be first past the post)

Ride conditions:
1. Must travel at least 75km
2. Must start your ride within the Adelaide Parklands - see parklands map here
3. Must arrive as close to 11:00 am as possible as penalties may apply if you are early or late
4. Cannot double back on any roads (i.e. if you ride up a particular hill you can't ride back down it)

MAJOR PRIZES TO BE ANNOUNCED
(Con Nakos was the winner of the last Brevet to Mylor and claimed the magnificent Corsa S3 jersey)

It is entirely up to you how seriously you wish to take up the points challenge. Let your route planning begin!

Anyone is free to come along and join us, however you need at least one CR kit item to be eligible for the prizes. Go to www.cervorosso.com to purchase or contact a CR Test Team member to borrow an item.

Note: No deer will be harmed during the staging of this event!

The invite list is not meant to be exclusive, YOU are more than welcome to join us....

It was a great day out, emptied out the suitcase of excuses to have a day out chasing Red Deer....liked the new rule no hill repeats....never planned the ride, just went looking for a reasonable climb but ended up 800 metres short of the target....used my CX skills to use part of the Mt Lofty walkers trail to reach the top of old Lofty so can claim the highest ascent point for the ride....and gravity is great for some fast descents....my steepest ascent was the climb past Kalyra Hospital at 19 percent....would have made it on time but my run back from the south was hampered by a firm gusty northerly wind, and lost 13 minutes at traffic lights and trying to get around backed up traffic at Westfield Marion....glad to see the results were close as it is a great competition....throughout the ride was thinking about all the possibilities of different routes and bailout points for that quick alternative....yeah, I did consider Sheoak Road but was running out of time unfortunately as would have had two ascents to Crafers....AVO, will take a "raincheck" of the missing 800 metres until next time :) "So close yet so far"

It was a great day for a pedal, my lack of direction skills actually made me do more climbing than I would have otherwise. Very nice down at the Bay, great company as usual. Looking forward to the next.

Perfect weather conditions for the fourth Red Deer Brevet today ..... where all roads led to the palindromically named suburb of Glenelg.

Got there a few minutes late, due to the number of traffic lights not previously encountered in our hills Brevets.

Excellent food and coffee at Europa's (voted Adelaide's best cycling friendly cuppa newslink here

A-Man, despite getting lost, claimed the CR jersey prize (the scores were THAT close)..... hey, Rob you were 800m short of the required 75km!

Name Metres Km's Time Score
A-Man 1538 82.5 3.33 5.60
Chewy 1374 74.2 3.32 5.58
Boots 1285 76.2 3.05 5.53
Derek 1197 75.4 3.35 5.45
