In honour of World Suicide Prevention Day on Monday 10 September, What's Your Story, Catch My Drift, City of Charles Sturt Youth Central and Smudge Monkeesare getting together to celebrate life on our bikes, and help reduce the stigma associated with suicide.
We will be departing from the Christmas Lights Car Park opposite the Entertainment Centre at 9:00am, and travelling down the River Torrens Linear Park Cyclepath to Henley Square, where we will be entertained by The Amazing Drumming Monkeys, Nina V and face painting for the kids. This is a family ride, and will be ridden at a family friendly pace, with roving marshals to lend a hand if required. There are a number of fantastic playgrounds along the way, where the little ones may want to stop and stretch, as well as water fountains for the thirsty, and toilets if required. Pets are welcome on the day, however out of respect to other riders and users of the path, they must travel either on your bike in a basket, in your panniers, or on/in a trailer. They can not be running freely, and must be under control at all times. Please feel free to share this amongst your networks. As with all rides, bicycles must be in a roadworthy condition, helmets must be worn at all times when riding, and respect must be given to other users of the path. Any type of bike is welcome, or if you have family that want to meet you in the Square, they are more than welcome. Keep the rubber side down,
Smudge!!!

Comment by Smudge on September 10, 2012 at 0:29 Cheers Richard, it went amazingly well. There were many members of the AC family there today, and so many other cyclists from the elite racers to the mums dads towing their kids, it was a magnificent cross section of our varied cycling community here in Adelaide. We really do live in the best place, and have an awesome community around us.
Comment by Richard on September 9, 2012 at 20:21 Rats. I had this all planned. I was going to ride to work, tell my boss I was going on the ride, then head off for the ride.
Trouble is, I'd somehow convinced myself the ride was tomorrow and only realised it was today when I considered that a monday was a strange day for a family event.
I'll try to do better next time. Hope it went well.
