Mike Turtur Cycleway Opening Ceremony & BBQ

The opening ceremony for the bicycle overpass on the new Mike Turtur Cycleway is scheduled for 8.15am, Friday 19th March (yep - just before the elections!) All are welcome! We understand that Patrick Conlon, Minister for Transport and keen cyclist will share the honors for ‘first over’ with cycling champ Mike Turtur.

You can join both of them as they lead the cycleway's first peleton over the bridge and possibly for a bit of a ride down Adelaide's newest 'Greenlink'. The event organisers will be putting on a BBQ breakfast (and they assure me that there will be something for vegetarians)!

The Bicycle Institute of SA worked on making this bikeway a reality. They will be there campaigning encourage more use of bicycles as transport and making the most of the new bikeway.

Good ride this morning guys!

Nice to see such a collection of exotic machines as well ;-)

I made it over the over pass, despite having no chain, with the kind towing of Derek, then Jim, then a push from my good mate Dean.

Sorry if I left any grubby hand prints on any one's jerseys! If so, you'll find Alex's laundry service quick and thorough.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a new chain and the next Adelaide Cyclists event.

Looking good, I'll be riding from Magill to the opening then back into town following it. I'll be riding down the Unley Commuter route then following the terraces to the overpass.. See you all there!

To All and Sundry.
Mark Matthews (smudge64) and myself will be meeting at Bocelli Cafe Cnr Hutt and Wakefield St at 0700 this Friday, for a coffee and a chat prior to riding down to the opening of the Cycleway. Would be great to catch up with any of the Adelaide Cyclists who are making their way to this auspicious occasion.

Just remembered I have a conference all that day at the Stamford at the Bay! Noice! They will secure my bike for the day, now, somewhere to shower and change!

Depends on work a bit. As long as the place is under control I will do my best to get there.
